I can design and construct a variety of different bookcase models. Having a bookcase custom made insures that it will blend in with the other furnishings in your home or office. Most bookcases or bookshelves available in stores are made of particle board that sags over time, poorly applied veneers that chip or break off easily. My solid wood bookcases will provide years of reliable and beautiful storage and display service.

Shelves can be fixed or adjustable to fit your needs. All models are available with doors or as an open design. All surfaces are finished to protect the piece and make it beautiful from any angle. Attention to detail is central to producing the finest quality furniture. To see the stain and finish options, please visit the woods and finishes page. To see various hardware options, please visit the hardware options page.

Please note that I no longer build built-in bookcases or cabinets, only free-standing units.

Rustic Bookcase
This bookcase cabinet was made from beams recovered from a cabin in Virginia. It's sturdy design allows it to hold many books as well as provide storage for record albums.

This leaning bookcase is modeled after something you may have seen before, but this is much larger. It stands 8 feet tall and nearly 9 feet wide. It holds a lot! It can be taken apart easily so sections can be moved.

Protect your Books!

Store your books in a bookcase whenever possible. Books should be stored vertically, and not crammed together. When stored too tightly on a shelf, books can be damaged when removed. Also, avoid placing bookshelves such that they will be exposed to direct sunlight. Sunlight fades and yellows pages.

Finally, if your books have dust jackets and they are (a) very valuable, or (b) used often, consider using dust jacket protectors. These clear acetate sleeves aren't pretty, but they do the job. A bookcase with doors will also protect your books from light and dust.
